Faeries of Tasmania Vol2 trailer

Tiny BOOK of Sketches

As with many illustrated books, roughs or rejected illustrations never see the light of day. We’ve decided to put ours into a very small book.

Terry had created so many wonderful faeries for our books, some just didn’t make it for one reason or another. Rather than wasting these, we decided to put them into a limited edition of tiny books.

Limited to 50, each will be numbered and signed.

We will let you know when they become available.

First look at ‘Faeries of Tasmania’ Vol 2

Lady Plummage has given us permission to upload the cover and sample spreads from Vol 2 of Faeries of Tasmania.

Following on from the success of the first book, Lady Plummage has done it again with Vol 2.

Along with the 20 new faery interviews accompanied with full colour illustrations, Lady Plummage has delved further into Edith’s life, who is featured on the cover. In Vol 1, Lady Plummage only had a light dusting of evidence about Edith and her connection to the faeries in Tasmania. Vol 2 will go deeper with more evidence brought forward by readers of the first book. With more evidence becoming available, she has managed to piece together her story, from her arrival in Hobart to her disappearance.

Vol 2 will also have an excerpt from the next publication covering Edith’s Story. We are not sure when this will be available, but please drop in from time to time to see the progress of this publication.

Vol 2 is due out this Christmas in various bookshops.

Volume 2 of Faeries of Tasmania

As you may have noticed, we have changed ‘Book 2’ to ‘Volume 2’. Lady Plummage wanted all future posts to have this change to align with her collections of faery witnesses.

As vast as Lady Plummage’s collections are, we can only fit 20 of her favourite sightings within the next volume along with the added story of Edith S Brown, which is changing all the time due to more information coming in from readers of her initial book.

Speaking of Edith, it has come to light her connection with faeries being in Tasmania, has now stalled. More information will be in Volume 2.

Even though Lady Plummage has stalled a little with regards to Edith’s involvement with the faeries, she has gathered enough information to begin writing the novel of Edith’s life. No timeline has been set for this release.

Devonport exhibition

Special packs will be available while the exhibition is on. Available only at the shop in the Gallery.

These packs will consist of a signed book 1 of Faeries of Tasmania, a Faeries of Tasmania tote bag and a special enamel brooch. These will be limited.

The large A2 prints (excluding Jelly Bean) within the exhibition and the small sketches are for sale. Please email us for prices.

We are please to mention that some of the images in book 1 will be part of the ‘Beyond the wandering moon, beyond the star’ exhibition being displayed at the Paranaple Arts Centre, Devonport.

The exhibition comprises work from various artists, which have a connecting theme of magical realms. So, why don’t you drop in and escape this world for little while – you never know what you might find.

We are also showing a special print from Faeries of Tasmania volume 2, due out this Christmas 2024.

While the exhibition is on, signed Faeries of Tasmania books, will be available for sale at their bookshop.

Happy New Year!

This is going to be an exciting year for us here at Faeries of Tasmania.

Considering the success of the faery exhibition we had in Brisbane, we’ll be having more this year, not only in Brisbane but possibly in our home state of Tasmania. More on this as things develop.

And obviously the second book from Lady Plummage will be available for Christmas.

We are also looking into a special epub edition of more faery encounters from around Tasmania. This will be totally separate from the physical books and possibly just a black and white edition of short interviews and sketches that haven’t been included in the full colour editions.

Lady Plummage has only just allowed us to post a little about her book 3. Yes, she is working on book 3! This will be Edith’s story, which you would have learnt about in book 1, book 2 will also go into more detail.

All we know is that Lady Plummage will be writing a novel on what she believes Edith went through during her time in Hobart.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas, Season’s Greetings, Happy Holidays, however you celebrate the end of year, we wish you all the best and hope 2024 is full of faery fun.

We will be shutting our doors over the Christmas for a much needed break after such a busy year of researching, writing and designing.

Book 2 is nearly finished. Lady Plummage will be going over the text for the book, making sure everything is just right – we don’t want any mishaps just before it goes to print.

Book 2 update

The illustrations from Terry have been stunning. They have certainly captured the descriptions from the faery witnesses. Below are some teasers to give you a peek within the pages of book 2, due out for Christmas 2024.

The fairy/faery census

It doesn’t matter how you spell it, apart from the local collection of sightings by Lady Plummage, Dr Simon Young is presently organising a census of fairy sightings. He has been doing so for the last few years and the census is residing on the Faery Investigation Society website.

So, if you have encountered a faery and would like it to be part of the wider faery sighting community, you can do the survey here. All entries are anonymous.

You can also view the previous census The Fairy Census, 2014-2017

Or if you prefer, we can pass on your sightings to Dr Simon Young directly.
